Given the success of the Hiawatha line, LRT is back in the picture and an Alternatives Analysis study is evaluating light rail transit (LRT) and bus rapid transit (BRT) options for the Bottineau Corridor. This study arose out of changing federal, regional and local perspectives andthe evolution of recent land use and development in the corridor. The study is also the first step to be able to apply for federal New Starts funding. The Alternatives Analysis study, commissioned by the Hennepin County Regional Rail Authority, began in March 2008 and is anticipated to be completed by the summer of 2009. The Bottineau Boulevard Partnership has been meeting jointly with the Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) as part of the Alternatives Analysis process. Key documents from the Alternatives Analysis include the Alternatives Analysis Initiation Package which provides documentation of Stage 1 study activities and a Map of the Preferred Transitway Alignment Alternatives to be developed in Stage 2 of the study process.
