Hennepin County
Hennepin County initiated the Bottineau Boulevard Partnership in 2000 to guide planning for physical improvements to County Road 81 (Bottineau Boulevard) and economic revitalization in the communities served by the road.
Hennepin Community Works (HCW) is also interested in this corridor. HCW seeks encourage communities in the County to work together to create good jobs, provide access to employment, and build the long-term value of communities by investing in infrastructure, public works, parks, and the natural environment.
Mike Opat
Commissioner
Mike Opat was elected to the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners in November 1992. The County Board is the governing body of Hennepin County, Minnesota which has more than one million residents, an annual budget of $1.7 billion and some 10,000 employees.
Before his election to the County Board in 1992, Opat worked for ten years as a correctional officer and supervisor at the County's Adult Corrections Facility, a medium-security workhouse facility. In 1987, he was named Minnesota Correctional Counselor of the Year.
Opat has a Master of Public Policy Degree from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota.
